People often ask where the name Queen's Rocket comes from. I found it, years ago, in a book describing the Victorian Language of Flowers.

Queen's Rocket means: "You are the Queen of Coquettes: Fashion".

Particularly stylish ladies would receive bouquets of Queen's Rocket Flowers the morning after hosting elaborate parties, a reminder, from delighted guests, of a fashionable soiree.

The image above is of the Queen's Rocket that grows in our Chestnut House Garden - a gift from Ron after I staged my first Queen's Rocket Fashion Show. Every season, these flowers remind me that someone thinks I am "the height of fashion".

A story has it that Queen Victoria, spying a robust group of Dame's Rocket Flowers in her garden, exclaimed, "those must be Queen's Rocket" - and the new title was given to that variety.

That is what Queen's Rocket means to me - a label under which I can design hand embellished, singular creations, in the memory of those most stylish Victorians, to celebrate the "coquette" in all of us.
